I have noticed the slow approach to the Solstice of Radiance drifting closer. Therore- the month that sees the start of Summer and the blaze of fire- will arrive in just a few days. I cannot recall what you call this month, although I have heard it through the Veil.
Humens celebrate the beginning of Summer in such a sombre manner. They gather in the centre of their cities and offer their devotions to the Gods of fire, strength and heat. Solthar- the God of the sun-star (and also the name of the sun-star), and Solmira, the solar Goddess of law and divine judgement, take pride of place. Offerings (usually made of golden grain and dried herbs) are thrown into the fire before the procession leads out of the city to the large bonfire that is to be lit by the Sacred Flame.
It’s a solemn affair.
Humens are to be reminded that fire is a force that must be mastered, not indulged on. There’s no dancing, laughing, singing or merriment to be found. All parts are controlled, and deviations rarely happen, if at all.
There’s beauty in the simplicity of this celebration, though. I wonder if they realise that. That even now, their honouring of the Sun God and Solar Goddess is a thing of beauty. I have seen the peace upon the faces of devotees participating in these ceremonies. I have seen them tilt their face to greet the sun in reverence; and watched the way that the sun bathed them in light.
