I have always been aware of the Veils. The thin barrier that keeps the Realms separate, even though they overlap one another. For as long as I have existed, I have lingered between the Veils, in one form or another. Throughout any Realm, my role has been to observe and bear witness, but not to interfere.
I am the Chronicler. The Keeper, the Watcher of the Worlds.
These names have echoed through time; perhaps even you have heard of some. Yes, you, the one reading this from Earth. There are fewer Veils that fascinate me more than the one that exists between Ethecorra and the planet you call Earth. The days in which that particular Veil thins are the days I can tell you the stories of Ethecorra, of which there are many. I have seen the lives lived and lost across the great continents of one world reflected in the face of another, so you may recognise parts of the stories I wish to tell you. These stories have been gifted to me by time, for as long as Ethecorra has existed, I have been here. Many on the planet do not see me, but that is okay; my role is to observe and chronicle the lives and stories of those who call this planet home. There are advantages to this, of course.
I have seen people celebrate the great elementals with festivals that honour the forces that created Ethecorra, all those millennia ago. I have seen the cities of this great world, and have walked them silently, just as you may walk through yours. I have seen the many creatures of Ethecorra, both natural and mythical. I have lingered in the sacred places that the Gods once walked, observing the reverence that such a place demands. The most important stories, however, are those that tell the lives of the people of Ethecorra. Simple, complicated, mundane or magical, the people of Ethecorra are unique as the ones who reside in your city or country.
I can also lead you into the darkness, if it doesn’t scare you so, and let you glimpse just what hides in the shadows. For Ethecorra has its own secrets that are worth discovering. I cannot guarantee what you will find, nor who you would meet. It takes courage to meet the shadows, and I have witnessed some courageous Ethecorrans face their shadows and find peace. I have seen those who know the darkness, intimately.
Ethecorra is a place of beauty and magic. It’s a place of sensuality and wonder (and don’t let humen’s tell you otherwise). It’s a place of myth and secrets; the beings you would believe to be nothing more than myth walk in the light of day here. Once, the Gods themselves walked upon the land that makes up the great continents of today. You’ll find those who swim to the depths and finally come up for air. You’ll find those who shift and change, the ones who feed on blood and incite lust. You’ll find those who have a foot in both land and sea; perhaps you’ll even glimpse those who have a foot on either side of the Veils. You’ll find the ones who still commune with the elements that built this world- those ones are my favourite.
But there are hardships here. I have witnessed sorrow and loss. I have witnessed fear and rejection. I have seen those that once stood tall, crumble to ashes. I have seen the souls who have yet to be claimed, forever wandering to find their place. I have witnessed the lies told to countless faces and spread throughout countless spaces. I have witnessed the injustice given in the guise of reward and praise- and could do nothing but witness their fall. That is when my role is the hardest. To witness and chronicle, but to never interfere.
If you feel so inclined, let me lead you through the stories of Ethecorra. I will tell you how this world works, the lives of the people who call it home, the rise and fall of power. I will show you the Realms and the creatures that reside in them. I can show you the Leyweave, the living rivers of pure magic that was created as the world was born. I can show you where this magic resides the strongest; and where it has completely run dry. Each section you’ll find here is categorised by a theme, so allow yourself to wander. Who knows how far you’ll travel in Ethecorra, but I hope you’ll trust me to lead you.
